Opportunity Knocks

Sean Balewski

It's now six weeks until election night, and from now until then, my life will be consumed by politics. I have been given the amazing opportunity to be an embedded bureau reporter at Obama Headquarters in Columbus for WOIO Action 19 News out of Cleveland.

Each week, I will be reporting about the activities of the Obama campaign as the November 4th date draws near, and here, I will be blogging about my experience. Not only will I be reporting on the campaign's plan to try to bring Ohio home for the Democrats, but I will also be keeping close tabs on the Senator and any of his visits to the Buckeye State.

Based on Obama's numbers from the March 4th primary, it is clear that his focus will have to be on the southeastern part of the state if he wants to make Ohio a blue state come November. From the numbers from that March primary, this part of our state is Clinton Country. So it will be interesting to see if Obama himself makes a visit or if the Clintons will swing through.

Regardless, the next several weeks will obviously be a fascinating and interesting time for not only Americans, but especially for Ohioans. Ohio was such a crucial player in the 2004 Presidential Election, and as history has shown, the candidate who takes Ohio has in the past, taken the White House.

It will be exciting to document this journey, and I look forward to keeping you up to date on all that is happening here.

As the saying in this industry goes.....stay tuned!!
